Aloha and welcome to the first post of our new venture! Part fashion blog, part “Insider’s Guide” to a Maui lifestyle, here is where we take our curated looks to the street, and connect you the hippest fashion, food, wellness, beauty, and island culture Maui has to offer. In the process, we'll introduce you to our thriving community of creative entrepreneurs, artists, photographers, restaurateurs, models, filmmakers, athletes, and more.
I’m Carrie Gebb, the owner of Driftwood, a lifestyle boutique located in Makawao, Hawaii on the beautiful slopes of Haleakala Volcano on Maui's north shore. I have been an island resident since 1995. For the past 17 years I have owned and worked as an esthetician at Paragon Salon, also in Makawao. ( Clearly, I can't get enough of this town ). I adore the beauty industry, but having grown up with fashion - learning how to sew and make patterns from the age of 8, along side my chic French grandmother, Lorraine - I always knew I would return to it in some way.
So, I decided it was time to follow my creative muse and after months of planning, building and barely sleeping, Driftwood opened to a roaring turn-out April 30th, 2015. Architecture and interior design are also big loves, so Driftwood provides a lot of merchandising and decorative fun! It is a passion project as well as a necessity and I love every minute of it. In November of 2016 with a ton of work, a few dozen expletives, and lots of help, Driftwood’s online store was born.
The Driftwood blog is an extension of our brick-and-mortar and e-commerce store and is all about collaboration, so naturally, you will hear me say 'we', a lot. I could not do any of this without the love and support of my family, Ariel, Blake and Eden, as well as my girls at Driftwood Rachael and Jazmin, who help me keep 'shit' together, and Sara who is my marketing consultant, literally nothing I do would exist in cyberspace (or possibly anywhere) without her!

The Driftwood blog provides a platform to inspire island vibes beyond Maui so you can take Aloha with you were ever you roam or reside.
