Big wave chargers Luke and Ian Walsh are best known as the two oldest
of a band of four brothers that regularly challenge the monster surf
of Maui's notorious break at Pe'ahi, better known as Jaws. But now,
these two Maui boys are putting their feet on the ground and getting
down to business in their hometown - with the opening of a new healthy
açaí cafe called Paia Bowls.
Inspired by their friend and business partner Sam Custin, owner of
Haleiwa Bowls (a very popular açaí bowl spot located in Haleiwa on the
north shore of Oahu), Paia Bowls has become an absolute oasis in the
busting Maui town of it's namesake.
Tucked into a tropic garden, the deck at Paia Bowls is a relaxing and
comfortable place to hang with friends and grab an açaí bowl sourced
with delicious local ingredients like bananas, honey, strawberries, and
bee pollen, or to enjoy some kombucha on tap while catching up on work
- with free Wi-Fi. Fresh fruit smoothies and cold brew coffee make a
fantastic cool down after a romp at the beach. Keep your eye on the
horizon for more savory food options like avocado toast to be joining
the line-up soon!
Paia Bowls is excellently located around the corner from Paia Bay at
the beginning of town and bonus: it has its own parking (a commodity
